Taiwan Salmon Eco Center Reopens for Visitors after Renovation

Taiwan Salmon Eco Center is a popular spot in the Wuling area, attracting over 100,000 visitors every year. However, the facilities have been in place since the opening in 2006, which means it is now in need of an update. Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters carried out a 9-month renovation on the center, and reopened it on July 2, 2024.

The new display cabinets are designed to replicate natural creek ecosystems, showing landscapes such as waterfalls and deep pools, along with Qijiawan native plants. Visitors could observe the salmon from all angles to better identify their characteristics and their ecosystems.

Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters also works with cable television networks to set up underwater cameras near the Qijiawan fish-watching platform, allowing people to watch real time footage in the center or by searching for “Oncorhynchus masou formosanus Reality Show (臺灣櫻花鉤吻鮭實境秀)” on YouTube.

The center is open every day except Monday, from 9:00 to 12:00, and from 13:00 to 17:00. After renovations, the center offers an even finer visitor experience for everyone to discover more about the unique ecosystem around Formosan Landlocked Salmon.
