Snow season park entry warning | Cold and damp weather coming

A cold wave is really coming, and it's going to be cold, damp, and snowy.
According to the latest forecast from the Central Weather Administration, a strong cold front will move southward this weekend, from the 7th to the 9th, causing temperatures to plummet across Taiwan. High-altitude areas within Shei-Pa National Park, such as Xueshan, Dabajianshan, the Shengling Line, and mountainous areas above 2,000 meters (including sections of Guanwu and Wuling), have a very high chance of snowfall, rime ice, and even icy roads.
The snow scenery is beautiful, but the risks are also increasing. The snow management office has highlighted the key points for you.👇
🏔️Attention mountaineers | With proper equipment, judgment is even more important.
Hiking in the snow season is no ordinary hike; the combination of low temperatures and snow accumulation instantly increases the difficulty.
🧊Snow gear is a must.
For hikers entering the ecological reserve, crampons, ice axes (or trekking poles), and rock helmets are indispensable.
Don't forget to double-check before you set off:
👉Does the equipment really "work" with your hiking boots, and do you actually know how to use the other equipment?
🥶Beware of hypothermia, this is really cold.
The coldest period of this cold wave will occur from the evening of the 8th to the early morning of the 9th.
The perceived temperature at high altitudes may be far below 0°C.
Please be sure to wear layers in an onion pattern. Your spare clothes and sleeping bag must be kept dry. This is not a detail, but a matter of life and death.
⬇️Retreat is not failure, it's professionalism.
If a blizzard reduces visibility and the path is covered by snow...
Or perhaps the icy terrain has exceeded your experience level—
Please remember this: safety first. Be brave and descend or wait for assistance at the mountain hut.
🚗Tips for general visitors: Prepare a little more before heading up the mountain.
Even if you're not hiking, you still need to be careful:
⛓️Please prepare snow chains for driving.
Roads leading to Wuling, Guanwu and other recreational areas may be subject to traffic control due to icy conditions.
If you are traveling on the Hehuanshan Highway, it is recommended that you carry snow chains in your vehicle and practice installing them beforehand, so as not to be caught off guard on the road.
👟Anti-slip and warmth are essential.
The park's walkways are particularly slippery in damp and cold weather.
Please wear shoes with good grip.
Also be aware of the potential risk of icicles falling from the trail.
🌨️Final reminder
The snow-covered mountains are truly enchanting, but they are never gentle.
Please honestly assess your physical fitness and equipment condition before entering the park.
Stay informed with the latest weather forecasts to prevent beautiful scenery from turning into an accident.
We went up the mountain safely and returned home safely.
